TCS Deputy Secretary-General ZUSHI Shuji attended the International Disaster Resilience Leaders Forum Incheon 2024 (IDRLF Incheon 2024) and delivered congratulatory remarks during the opening session on October 28, 2024. This significant annual forum, held in partnership with Incheon Metropolitan City, the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Incheon Institute, serves as a vital platform for exchanging knowledge and strategies on disaster risk reduction (DRR). This year’s theme, “All-of-Society Capacity Development and Education for Urban Disaster Risk Reduction,” underscores the importance of collaborative approaches to building resilient communities worldwide.

In his address, DSG ZUSHI highlighted the commitment of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (CJK) to advancing DRR efforts through regional cooperation and collective learning. As the trilateral cooperation marks its 25th anniversary this year, DSG ZUSHI emphasized the role of trilateral initiatives in addressing disaster resilience and applauded the forum’s focus on multi-stakeholder engagement and capacity-building to promote urban resilience in the face of growing climate and disaster challenges.

The forum included roundtable of Northeast and Southeast Asian Leaders to discuss on capacity building for DRR technology utilization, followed by expert session on strengthening disaster risk reduction education and training for urban resilience. As disaster events increase in frequency and intensity, DSG ZUSHI reaffirmed TCS’s dedication to fostering cross-border partnerships, ensuring that the lessons shared at this forum translate into actionable steps for enhancing resilience across communities in the region.
