中日韩财长会议于2000年起召开，是三国在参加东盟与中日韩（10+3）财政部长会议前夕的准备协调会议。自2012年开始， 三国央行行长也受邀一同参加会议。三方针对不稳定的全球经济环境和金融市场，讨论如何推动区域经济的发展以及维持区域金融的稳定。同时，三方也讨论与东盟国家金融合作的方向，进而推动清迈倡议多边化协议的发展。
为进一步加强三国央行的合作与交流，共同维持区域的经济金融稳定，中日韩于2009年起召开了由中国人民银行、日本银行和韩国银行共同参加的中日韩央行行长会议。
